THE BATHROOM: PART TWO – Clean your body... mind and soul.

What does the bathroom mean to you?

• Practical and easily maintainable (hygienic) place.
• Bathrooms are relaxing, often described as a sanctuary and a serene and tranquil outlet.
• There is a natural theme taking over bathroom design – through appearance/colour choices and material use.
• New storage options have been implemented – compartments in drawers, recessed shelving in shower areas & around bath tubs, "his and her" amenity boxes and additional towel compartments in vanity cabinetry.
• Popular bathroom design is setting a new trend in featuring outdoor elements and connecting the interior to the exterior (nature) – i.e. Either a door leads to an outdoor area, views of breathtaking outdoor scenery or the inclusion of natural elements within the interior design; such as, plants to help reflect the feeling of being outdoors.
• More open plan architecture is applied, with freestanding elements as part of the design layout.
• Bathrooms now can easily flow into the master bedroom or other rooms, taking on the main design themes of the overall room it connects to.
• Bathrooms incorporate less materials reflecting less complex spaces.
• Bathroom lighting techniques have improved with more natural light elevating the design space – i.e. there has been a reduction in the use of smaller windows. Larger windows and floor to ceiling windows are now part of common design practice.

Street smarthandbook - "Developing our future through helping young people..."

School has started for the year 2014. The school system is set-up to educate children into adulthood and requires valuable tools for our youth to grow and follow opportunity. Recently Granite Planet featured an ad in the 'street smarthandbook' that was put together on behalf of the Victorian Police. As a family business, whose employees include many parents, this book is a great resource.

If you have any children, we recommend requesting a copy. The manual covers numerous topics from driving, banking, bullying, a healthy mind and body and even, moving out of home!

Personally, I wish I had such a resource when I was growing up. As the book really explores the questions many teenagers and young adults require answers for... or even guidance. Most wine experts would recommend that the cooler and less humid the area... the better the condition for prolonging your beverages. Not only is there a hidden area for the wine, but it doubles up as space for people to place stools under. It is organised and attractive, I guess 'i'd drink you under the table' has a new meaning in this kitchen!
